Amazon Web Services (AWS) has just unveiled a suite of groundbreaking generative artificial intelligence (generative AI) innovations, aimed at democratising the power of AI.
After its initial announcement in April, Amazon Bedrock is now generally available. It’s a fully managed service that offers access to foundation models (FMs) from leading AI companies through a single API. These FMs are pre-trained on vast datasets, making them applicable to various use cases, from content creation to drug discovery. Amazon Bedrock simplifies FM selection, integrates with existing applications seamlessly, and allows private customisation while ensuring data security.

Swami Sivasubramanian, vice president of data and AI at AWS, explained the significance of these innovations. He said, “Over the last year, the proliferation of data, access to scalable compute, and advancements in machine learning have led to a surge of interest in generative AI, sparking new ideas that could transform entire industries and reimagine how work gets done.”
Amazon Bedrock offers access to Amazon Titan FMs, Meta’s Llama 2, Amazon CodeWhisperer and Amazon QuickSight. Each of these models is geared towards business needs; from coding suggestions, large language models, business analytics and more.
AWS has also announce that it is launching a free, self-paced digital training course, starting with Amazon Bedrock—Getting Started. This one-hour course is designed to introduce developers and technical audiences to the benefits, features, use cases, and technical concepts of Amazon Bedrock.
