Barcelona dismantled Newcastle United in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski each scored twice as Barcelona ran out 7-2 winners on the night, sealing an 8-3 aggregate victory.
Newcastle began brightly, twice responding to early Barcelona goals through Anthony Elanga, leaving the tie finely poised at halftime despite Lamine Yamal slotting a stoppage-time penalty to put the hosts 3-2 ahead.
The second half saw Barcelona pull away in ruthless fashion. Fermin Lopez struck first, followed by Raphinha and a Lewandowski double, leaving Newcastle reeling. Raphinha added a late goal to round off the scoring after capitalising on a sloppy pass from Jacob Ramsey.
Despite moments of fight from Newcastle, costly defensive errors and Barcelona’s clinical finishing proved decisive. The Spanish giants now await the winner of the tie between Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter finals.
