Jamaican celebrity couple Beenie Man and Krystal Tomlinson confirmed Monday (January 18) that their relationship is over.
The pair, who’ve been together for five years and share a two-year-old daughter, Xiah, posted contrasting messages with limited detail on social media, despite previously being open about much of their relationship online.
In a surprisingly ‘by-the-way’ post, Beenie Man addressed his love life in a video captioned ‘Moving forward…’ during which he broke away for just a few seconds from a chat with friends about US politics.
“All right, before we go pan that, serious topic,” the deejay said, pausing before adding “People, oh God! How we a go do this now?”
“Krystal Tomlinson and Moses Davis, we are apart, we are not together anymore and it’s not because of any bad vibes or any disrespect. People just grow apart and life change. So, me free, single, disengaged; she free, single and ready to engage,” Beenie Man said.
Tomlinson, in a seemingly more thoughtful approach, called her ‘closed chapter’ with the veteran entertainer one filled with love.
“Five years and folding. Part of growth is knowing when things have come to an end. Knowing not to force it. Knowing to let it be. Leaving while there is love and not waiting until it is dry, empty and full of animosity,” she wrote.
“Knowing to choose peace and trusting that all things work together for our good. I’ve remained silent for a while on this question not to keep a secret but to get clear, certain and centred. I am clear. I am certain. I am centred. This chapter on love, written with love, is closed,” Tomlinson added.
The confirmation is an about turn for the former couple, who were forced to address rumours that they’d split back in October 2020. At the time, the rumour mill was churning overtime as fans scrutinised Tomlinson’s removal of a heartfelt birthday post to her child’s father.
The communications consultant was also noticeably absent from Beenie Man’s mother’s funeral that same month.
