Finance process outsourcing firm Beryllium Limited is commending the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Branch (C-TOC) on its successful operation which derailed a multi-million-dollar robbery and killed four gunmen in Negril on Friday (July 26).
Company president André McLean, in a media release today (July 27), acknowledged the “dedicated and unwavering efforts and support” Beryllium has received behind the scenes from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) ever since major incidents last year.
McLean reiterated Beryllium’s commitment to provide financial support services island-wide while keeping its staff and the general public safe.
“Our joint collaboration with the JCF is not limited to yesterday’s operation but is an ongoing daily effort to keep Jamaica safe whilst performing our duties. Our team members, clients and the wider nation have been adversely affected by the actions of criminals which stand as a sad reminder of the realities of crime in our country,” McLean is quoted as saying.
“I use this medium to remind the public that cash-in-transit services and ATM services are high risk in nature and individuals should always limit their interactions with our team members as they perform their duties.
“I would like to thank the JCF, the military, all well-thinking Jamaicans and especially our team members for the ongoing and unwavering support and dedication, not just to our company but to the nation, in ensuring that we continue to provide the country with the necessary financial support services,” he continued.
The four suspected robbers were cut down by C-TOC personnel in Negril Square near the heavily trafficked Burger King fast food outlet in a nearly four-hour operation.

Preliminary reports indicate that lawmen intercepted several motor vehicles and engaged the occupants in a daylight gun battle.
JCF servicemen reported no team injuries as the bodies of four men, six firearms and abandoned vehicles were recovered in the aftermath. The identities of the deceased have not yet been released. Another man remains hospitalised under police guard, while the other assailants fled the scene. Investigations into the brazen robbery attempt continue.
Simultaneous probes are also being carried out by the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
For his part, Police Commissioner Dr Kevin Blake said the coordinated and deliberate operation in Westmoreland is the first in a series of moves to break up organised crime and maintain public order in western Jamaica.
“During the operation, our officers intercepted multiple vehicles associated with [this] criminal network. As a result, five gunmen were shot and one is currently being treated after being rushed to the hospital by the police. Six weapons were seized including three high-powered rifles,” the commish explained.
“We’re grateful to report that none of our police officers were harmed during the incident. This operation underscores our commitment to combatting criminal activities and dismantling criminal networks. We want to send a clear message to all criminal elements that their actions will not be tolerated and the JCF will take decisive measures to protect the public and uphold the rule of law,” added Dr Blake.
