This one-of-a-kind anime has redefined genre conventions and brought a fresh perspective to the world of animated storytelling.

Quintin Dorsey’s rich storytelling and art director Jacob Noble’s animations have captured the attention of fans with ‘Knight of Abyss’. Synopsis:

On the eve of Knight’s 17th birthday, a villainous group known as “The Collective” invades the Ancient Abyss Island of Hope and destroys it.

This sets off a chain of events that reveals an ominous prophecy. Knight, as the sole survivor of Hope, sets out to uncover the mystery of Hope’s untimely destruction. Along the way, Knight befriends two war orphans, Ruby and Nao. Together, the trio is tasked with uncovering the mystery behind Hope’s destruction and stopping the ancient prophecy known as ‘Night of Abyss.’

Breaking Barriers

Dorsey’s entry into the anime world is particularly noteworthy given the industry’s historical lack of diversity. As one of the few Black creators making significant waves in anime, Dorsey’s work is not only a creative triumph but also a milestone for representation.

His personal experiences and cultural background have infused ‘Knight of Abyss’ with a unique perspective that adds richness and depth to the narrative.

In his campaign for support of the series, Dorsey wrote:

Do you want your kids, your nieces, and your nephews to grow up with only 3 authentically black anime or animated shows? If you’re like me, then i know you’re response is F**k no…It’s abundantly clear that the Hollywood power structure has absolutely zero intentions of consistently creating authentically black content. Because of that, it’s on us…And that’s ok nobody should be writing our stories for us; we should be doing that. And that’s where KOA comes into play.
