The publishing rights holder to the Black Eyed Peas’ hit single My Humps, has filed a lawsuit against toy company, MGA for alleged copyright infringement.
BMG, the media company claims that MGA’s song My Poops, a song that MGA’s toy ‘Poopsie Slime Surprise’, a brand of slime pooping unicorn toy that retails on Amazon for up to US$ 300, dances to, says the song strongly resembles My Humps.
BMG claims that the toy’s song bears a strong resemblance the the Black-Eyed Peas’ 2005 hit single in terms of melody, countermelody, lyrics, chord progression and the use of a lead singer who has a similar delivery and vocal inflections as Fergie from the original sound recording.

MGA Entertainment released this toy in time for the 2018 holiday shopping season and despite receiving a cease and desist letter from BMG, they have continued to profit from the alleged infringement, and according to the suit is “generating tens of millions of dollars in revenue”.
