The energy was high as 150 mothers and their loved ones danced into the afternoon with full bellies and full hearts.
United Way of Jamaica hosted a Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday to celebrate the importance of mothers and to raise funds for their community and social development projects across the island. The guests who were treated to the sounds of the Jamaica Constabulary Force band, captured the moment in the instant photo-booth, and had a delightful 3-course brunch.
Hosted by Shelly-Ann Weeks, Founder and Executive Director of HerFlow, tributes were given to moms from their children, sharing heartfelt and hilarious stories that had the room in stitches. An impromptu fashion show showed off the fashionable stylings of the mother-daughter pairs and guests danced to live performances covering the likes of Taurus Riley. The crowd voted for their top three winners, with the dancing duo Joleesa Courts and Marcia Edwards taking first prize!
The afternoon’s theme—My Mother, My Heart—emphasised the importance that mothers play not only in the daily lives of their children, but also in their wider communities. Being a mother can look many different ways, but moms are always supporting those around them. Supporting the United Way in putting this brunch together were Supreme Ventures Foundation, Jamalco and TransJamaican Highways, with in-kind support from Nestlé & Armbands+.

The United Way of Jamaica’s CEO, Taneshia Stoney-Dryden, delivered the biggest prize of the night—a flat screen T—that was won in a fundraising raffle! Every mother left with a bag full of goodies and a smile on their face.
The United Way of Jamaica’s Mother’s Day Brunch fundraiser was held at the Talk of the Town Suite, Pegasus Hotel.
