Kingston BETA, the leading tech community in Jamaica, in partnership with global tech investment business Techstars will be providing tech entrepreneurs with valuable insights at an upcoming event this Thursday (July 6), at the AC Hotel Kingston.

The event, titled, Unlocking Investment Opportunities: How and When To Raise Money from Investors for Your Startup, promises to provide entrepreneurs with valuable insights on securing funding from angel investors, venture capitalists, and private equity firms.

The highlight of the evening will be an interactive fireside chat featuring Melissa Pegus, managing director of Techstars Atlanta & New Orleans, as the guest speaker. Pegus, a seasoned expert in the startup ecosystem, will share her invaluable insights and data on raising capital. The discussion will be moderated by Ingrid Riley, founder of SiliconCaribe and Kingston BETA, ensuring a dynamic and engaging conversation. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions and seek advice from both Pegus and Riley.

The event aims to foster collaboration, networking, and knowledge sharing among tech entrepreneurs, industry professionals, tech talents, creatives, and investors.

One of the highlights of the evening will be the Startup Stage competition, where emerging startups will have the chance to showcase their potential. At the previous event last month, Veekle, the Caribbean’s first digital peer-to-peer car rental app led by founder Cherie Williams, emerged victorious from a pool of 34 entrants.

The winner of the event on Thursday will receive JMD$300,000k and valuable support from the BIGEE Programme, sponsored by the Development Bank of Jamaica, including mentorship, investor connections, and access to new markets.

The event will begin at 6:30 pm and concluding at 10:00 pm. The registration fee is JMD$1,500 or USD$10.
