Former United States President Donald Trump, the man who made history as the only commander in chief to be impeached twice while in office, has officially declared he wants another crack at leading the free world.
Trump, who fell to Joe Biden in his attempt to secure a second term in 2020, tonight launched his campaign to reclaim the Oval Office in 2024.
“America’s comeback starts right now,” Trump said from the ballroom of his Mar-a-Lago resort.
“In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.”

“We have always known that this was not the end; it was only the beginning of our fight to rescue the American dream,” Trump said.

Trump immediately became the front-runner for the Republican nomination and a diminished force within his party. As results rolled in from last week’s midterm elections — with Democrats maintaining control of the Senate and Republicans winning a much smaller-than-expected majority in the House — some Republican elites began publicly clamoring for Trump to step aside for the good of the party.
His claim that the 2020 election was stolen from him resulted in an insurrection at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, prompting investigations by the Justice Department and Congress that unfolded amid this year’s midterms.
