The Marley Family and the Bob Marley Group of Companies have unveiled a comprehensive schedule of events under the resonant theme of ‘One Love 79’, commemorating the legacy of the late reggae icon’s 79th birthday anniversary.

Cedella Marley, CEO of the Bob Marley Group of Companies, in expressing the family’s enthusiasm for the annual celebration, said: “Each year, we look forward to honoring my dad in a way that highlights his legacy and is inclusive of our extended family, friends, and fans from around the globe. More than a song title, ‘One Love’ is a timeless call to the world, and sums up the spirit and the genius that is Bob Marley.”

Fans worldwide are invited to partake in the festivities by tuning in to the live stream on the Tuff Gong TV YouTube channel, commencing at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6. The stream will capture the essence of the celebration, featuring musical performances, engaging activities, and heartfelt birthday tributes from across the globe.

At the heart of the celebration lies the Bob Marley Museum at 56 Hope Road in Kingston. Serving as a pilgrimage site for fans worldwide, the museum will host a live TV broadcast throughout the day, complemented by a live radio broadcast on IRIE-FM. Attendees can expect an array of activities, including a petting zoo, reading sessions, artisanal showcases, giveaways, and exclusive museum tours, providing a multifaceted tribute to Marley’s life and legacy.

The ‘Live at Bob’s’ event will unfold on the deck of the Marley Natural Dispensary at the museum. This will showcase emerging artistes alongside the winners of the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) original songwriting competition, paying homage to Marley’s enduring influence on the reggae genre and nurturing the next generation of musical talent.

In the evening the Government will present a tribute concert at Emancipation Park, beginning at 7 p.m.

Beyond the music, the ‘One Love 79’ celebration extends its impact through social upliftment initiatives. Corporate partners are encouraged to contribute to various projects supported by the Marley Group, including enhancements to healthcare facilities, renovations of children’s homes, and community sports revitalisation efforts.
