China-Latin American and Caribbean Art Exchange Retrospective Exhibition

Culture and art are not only about “celebrating the beauty of oneself”, but also about “sharing the beauty with others”.

To celebrate more than 10 years of art communication between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries, the China-Latin American and Caribbean Art Exchange Retrospective Exhibition will be held at the Shaanxi Province Art Museum in Xi’an on September 17.

The show will display 55 pieces of artwork by 26 artists from nations in Latin America and Caribbean, including Brazil, Argentina, Cuba, Chile, Uruguay and Mexico.

CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS FROM LATAM, CARIBBEAN INSPIRED BY CHINESE CULTURE

Works on display cover oil paintings, ink paintings, installations and videos, all of which are selected from works created during an annual art residency program held from 2011 to last year.

In the past decade, more than 50 contemporary artists from Latin America and the Caribbean region have visited different cities in China to get inspired by Chinese culture to create their works.

The show is cooperated by the Bureau of International and Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It’s co-organised by China International Exhibition Agency.

It’s part of the eighth Silk Road International Arts Festival running from September 17 to September 23. A series of cultural activities will be held, including performances, theatre plays and digital art shows.
