
On June 20, 2026, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Jamaica, together with the Confucius Institute at the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies, successfully co-hosted the inaugural Chinese Food Festival at the Chinese Benevolent Association of Jamaica.
His Excellency Wang Jinfeng, Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica, and Ambassador Sheila Monteith, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, jointly cut the ribbon to launch the event. Hundreds of guests from all walks of life were present. A variety of regional speciality dishes, including Xinjiang Big Plate Chicken, braised beef noodles, Chinese-style deep-fried pancakes, dumplings, sticky red bean buns, and hand-rolled noodles, were warmly received by the public. The rich flavours and diverse culinary traditions attracted strong interest, with many visitors expressing appreciation for the authenticity and quality of the food on offer.
