As backlash continues to mount, photos from Shenseea’s ALPHA album party on Tuesday, March 15, shows health minister Dr Christopher Tufton keeping his face mask close as he engages in conversation with the dancehall star. (Photo: Contributed)

Minister of Health Dr Christopher Tufton was among a number of senior politicians photographed at Shenseea’s launch party for her debut album ALPHA not wearing a mask when they were supposed to.

Social media has put Lisa Hanna, Dr Nigel Clarke, Floyd Green and other prominent politicians who were photographed not wearing a mask, on blast, calling to attention the hypocrisy of leaders here in Jamaica.

A Tale of Two Cities as it were.

The drubbing continues to be merciless with many saying the optics has everyone pointing the finger.

But this is likely to be a three-day wonder – coming in and out of the news cycle in no time.

In Tufton’s case, he came with his mask on and at one time was asked to pull it down to conduct an interview with Entertainment Report host Anthony Miller.

Bam! The shutterbugs caught him.

Again he was asked to have a drink and again pulled down his mask.

The photographers caught him again.

Chatting to the lovely ShenseeaTufton had his mask around his wrist, the same one that bore his watch, but detractors didn’t pick up on that.

Reality cancels intent.

It’s very much a case of the instantaneous nature of today’s media and you know the story with the social media aspect – just ask Lisa Hanna!

It’s hard cheese for Chris Tufton, – damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
