CIBC Caribbean has announced a comprehensive financial relief programme designed to support clients in Jamaica who have been significantly impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
The bank reaffirmed its commitment to standing with affected families, individuals, and businesses as they work to rebuild their lives and livelihoods.
Annique Dawkins, country head for CIBC Jamaica, emphasised that the bank understands the hardships being faced across the island and is moving swiftly to respond.
“Hurricane Melissa has caused immense disruption, and many of our clients are now grappling with physical loss as well as financial uncertainty. Our responsibility is to help restore stability by providing practical, accessible financial solutions. CIBC Caribbean is here to support every step of the recovery process,” said Dawkins.
Owen Francis, director of personal and business banking, CIBC Caribbean, underscored the importance of offering immediate financial flexibility to clients navigating recovery.
“In moments like these, access to timely and flexible financial support can make all the difference. Our relief measures are designed to ease the pressure on households and businesses so they can focus on rebuilding. We are committed to working closely with each client to tailor solutions that meet their specific needs,” Francis stated.
CIBC Caribbean has introduced a special assistance programme designed to ease the immediate financial burden on clients while supporting long-term recovery. The initiative includes payment moratoriums on existing loans, mortgages, and credit cards, special loan financing to assist with rebuilding and repair needs, and flexible concessions to help absorb the financial strain caused by storm-related damage. The bank has also established dedicated support channels for clients requiring urgent financial guidance.
The bank noted that clients across all segments—personal banking, small business, and commercial—have been severely affected, and the relief package aims to provide reassurance during an extremely challenging period.

“We are very conscious of the devastating impact Hurricane Melissa has had on our employees, friends, and clients,” Dawkins added. “The special assistance we are offering is meant to provide confidence and room to breathe as individuals and businesses rebuild and move toward recovery.”
CIBC Caribbean is encouraging any client experiencing difficulty to contact their nearest branch or relationship manager as soon as possible to discuss the support options available. Each case will be carefully assessed to ensure that the solutions provided are both appropriate and effective.
