Theatre veteran Douglas Prout looks to once again thrill audiences with his stimulating comedy, CONARTI$T, which opens April 26, for a limited run, at Johnny’s Place in Kingston.
With CONARTI$T, Prout skewers the scamming phenomenon in an unforgettable combination of physical comedy, double entendre and dark humour. With a highly talented cast, the play promises an evening of uproarious laughter coupled with a thought-provoking exploration of the prevalent issues of scamming and crime in Jamaica.
Prout’s story revolves around two “self-employed en-chapaneurs” Adobe and Socrates, who appear to have a thriving operation of illicit activities. When one of them brings home a young lady, Confuscha, whom he just met at the movies, he thinks she is another easy victim for their devious plans. Will she too be “scammed” or fall prey to their evil schemes?
CONARTI$T features the talents of Actor Boy nominated Kweku Jomo Tafari Dixon (Adobe), Renard Anderson (Socrates) and Sherika McLeod. Alternating are Michael A.D. Edwards and Javian Kiffin.
