In Corporate Movements this week, Supreme Ventures Limited is advising of the resignation of Don Mark Smith as general manager of its subsidiary, Supreme Route Limited (SRL).

The resignation took effect on  July 1.

In the interim, Quentin Broom, consultant and SRL board director, will assume the responsibilities of general manager.

Stafford Burrowes returns to Dolphin Cove Board

Founder of Dolphin Cove Jamaica, Stafford Burrowes, has returned to the board of directors. Following a power struggle between Mexico-based majority owner World of Dolphins Inc. and the Jamaican directors of the company, Burrowes has been named as two board appointees, effective July 1.

The other is Steven Robert Strom. In the height of the power struggle, it was announced earlier in the year that, in pursuance of Article 95(h) of the Articles of Incorporation of Dolphin Cove Limited, the office of director held by Stafford Burrowes was vacated effective May 30.

Burrowes is the entrepreneur who conceived and developed the business idea that became the first and only marine park in Jamaica. He has been the chairman of the board of directors of Dolphin Cove Limited since 1998.

Resignation at JMMB Group

JMMB Group Limited is advising that Garfield Smith has tendered his resignation as group chief risk officer, effective July 31.  Smith has taken the difficult decision to leave his JMMB family to pursue other opportunities.

He joined JMMB Group in September 2017 as credit risk manager and rapidly advanced through the ranks, ultimately becoming group chief risk officer in November 2023. The board has thanked him for his invaluable contribution to the Group and wishes him continued success.

Sandra Minott-Phillips sworn in as Judge of Appeal in TCI

Sandra Minott-Phillips, the wife of distinguished parliamentarian Peter Phillips, has been officially sworn in as a Judge of Appeal in the Turks and Caicos Islands. 

She is currently a senior partner at the Jamaican law firm of Myers, Fletcher & Gordon and also a Justice of Appeal in Belize, having been appointed to that office in 2021.
