The new Premier League season opens with a blockbuster as newly promoted Coventry City head to champions Arsenal on Friday, August 21st, 2026. It’s a long-awaited return to the top flight for Coventry after 25 years, and they’ll be thrown straight into the deep end against Mikel Arteta’s title winners. Newly promoted Hull City host Manchester United the following day on Saturday, August 22nd, while Ipswich welcome Sunderland on the same Saturday.
Sunday, August 23rd brings change across the league, with Manchester City starting life after Pep Guardiola at home to Bournemouth, who also arrive under new boss Marco Rose. Liverpool begin their campaign away at Newcastle under Andoni Iraola, while Chelsea travel to Fulham on Monday, August 24th as Xabi Alonso takes charge, with Fulham still searching for a manager following Marco Silva’s exit.
The season begins just over a month after the World Cup final in the United States, running later than usual. It wraps up on Sunday, May, 30th 2027, with five midweek rounds added to the calendar to fit everything in.
