Chief Richard Currie took to social media on Sunday (October 10) to praise Reggae superstar Buju Banton.

According to Currie, Banton donated a tractor and other heavy equipment to assist with the first Maroon government building known as ‘House of Accompong’.

“@bujubanton has provided a tractor and other heavy equipment to help open roads in our community to access farming lands to enhance our food security. We are also creating a car park to ease congestion in our community. We will be clearing lands to build the first government building ‘House of Accompong’,” Currie said in his caption for the post.

Currie also expressed gratitude while stating that the curse of promises without fulfilment by many has been broken.

“Thank you for helping to break the curse of many unfulfilled promises made to the Maroon nation and its people,” he said.

“Many years have passed with promises from others to help fix our roads and develop our community. Finally, there are a few people which the most high creator has blessed with wealth who have decided to uplift our people and territory in a meaningful way,” he added.

The man at the helm of the Maroon nations in the Cockpit Country noted that the Grammy-winning artiste also donated two beautiful horses that will assist in ventures and tours across Maroon territories.

“The Government for the State of Cockpit Country would like to thank @bujubanton for providing two (2) beautiful horses that will aid officials to venture across Maroon territories and also be used for community tours,” Currie shared.

The Chief also dubbed the reggae star a legend for his support saying “@bujubanton your continued support and generosity in this critical time will be remembered and spoken about by the unborn. Much love to the legend.”

Buju Banton, whose real name is Mark Anthony Myrie, has in the past cited his Maroon heritage.
