Jamaican crooner Dalton Harris says while he has received an apology from the London Metropolitan Police, he is no longer disappointed with local gossip blogs, who he claims continue to push a false narrative that he was arrested.
Harris, taking to social media on Sunday (February 7), after first recalling claims of racial profiling by London Metro, slammed Jamaican gossip blogs for conflating a race issue with his pansexual identity.
“I have noticed again Jamaican bloggers are posting fake stories about me being arrested for something that never happened. I am not even disappointed anymore. I was RACIALLY PROFILED AND STOPPED BY POLICE FOR WEARING A HOODIE AND BEING BLACK,” the 2018 UK X-Factor winner began.
“I know my rights and exercised them so, me getting arrested or committing a crime is far from the truth. And what happened was posted on my social media but obviously, the truth isn’t important. We live in a world where gossip goes before integrity,” Harris continued.
The Cry singer contended that he felt disgusted by the blogs’ statements on his sexuality, which had no bearing on his run-in with the police last Friday. Still, Harris said he wouldn’t take the renewed smear campaign to broad-brush all Jamaicans.
“Making statements about my sexuality and addressing racism with homophobia is disgusting. And are people still worried about who I [expletive deleted] so badly?” Dalton asked.
“I filed a complaint and was given an apology by the police and was advised on how to progress my complaint. These officers do not represent the entire police force. Just like homophobic Jamaicans don’t represent ALL Jamaicans. And just like a black man wearing a hoodie does not represent a criminal. And being a criminal also isn’t a BLACK thing,” he added.
Harris came out as pansexual in October 2020, adding in an emotional Twitter post that he contemplated suicide for many years as he struggled with his sexuality.

“I had a deep realisation last night,” Harris, 26, wrote on Twitter on Thursday (October 15). “The only reason I didn’t take my life today is because I spoke with GOD and I decided to make the biggest change ai will ever make in my life.”
“I want to experience [life] and be honest with myself and everyone around me in my intentions,” he added in a later tweet. “Not hide or mask feelings and or flaws. Not judge myself. Not abuse myself and or anyone else. I am thankful for my family and everyone who is around me.”
