From quietly sketching portraits in rural Jamaica to releasing a Billboard-charting single and a genre-bending album, rising Caribbean artiste FyaVerse is fast becoming one of the most distinctive new voices in global dancehall fusion.
On April 19, 2025, he released his debut album Rak Di Wrld — a ten-track explosion of dancehall and Afrobeats that celebrates both his multicultural heritage and artistic evolution. The album, distributed via Virgin Island, is already making waves with standout tracks such as Night Jam featuring Nigerian artiste Danjay Seduction, and Summer Weekend, which captures the heat and pulse of Caribbean life. Following a Billboard Argentina Hot 100 appearance for Shatta Gyal and a nomination for Best Reggae Act at the HDP Music Awards for his single Times Dread, the release of Rak Di Wrld solidifies FyaVerse’s arrival as a regional star on the rise.

Born Fabian Wayne Edwards in Manchester, Jamaica, FyaVerse grew up in a culturally rich household—his mother carries Guyanese and Barbadian roots, while his father is Jamaican. Raised primarily by his great-grandmother, Gretel Myrie, he spent most of his early years in Jamaica—a formative period that laid the emotional groundwork for his artistic sensibilities. While music wasn’t always his first love, the steady influence of his uncle, Ojay Dias, who regularly played music through car sound systems, became an unconscious education.
“I grew up listening to a lot of Junior Reid, Luciano, Capleton, Mavado, Vybz Kartel, Sizzla, Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, and Shabba Ranks. I would always be singing their songs and eventually found myself flipping the lyrics and adding my own,” he said.
It was during his time at Cross Keys High that he began taking music seriously, becoming part of a school-based musical group called N.F.G (New Flex Generation). Around this time, he also began working with Wolde “Iamedz” West, an older artiste outside of school. Their creative chemistry led to early recordings under the name Back Yard Production, which later evolved into MedzMuzic Records. Their first track together, Rollingz, marked the unofficial start of FyaVerse’s career, culminating in their collaborative album Classic Legend.
Initially performing under the moniker Lil Fya, he was heavily focused on deejaying before learning how to structure melodies. The name FyaVerse was born during a late-night conversation with a friend. “I knew I wanted to keep ‘Fya’ because it resonated with me,” he says. “Then my friend said, ‘You’re always spitting lyrics—you must name FyaVerse!’ And that was it.” The name stuck, and with it came a clear direction: a fusion of fire and verse, melody and message.
In 2018, he made the pivotal move to Kingston to pursue music on a professional level, releasing his first official music video Today Is Not Yesterday under his own label, WrldClassic Records. That same year, fate intervened when he met reggae icon Junior Reid, who took him under his wing and welcomed him into the One Blood Family. The mentorship offered a deep dive into the inner workings of the music industry—something that profoundly shaped his artistic and business approach.
After returning to Mandeville to complete his education, FyaVerse enrolled at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in 2019. In Negril, he met Dutch producer ChevoBeatz, forming a collaborative bond that would lead to multiple international projects. In 2020, they recorded Reggae Music featuring Kraative, and reached out to reggae legend Luciano for the intro—a request Luciano generously accepted, lending the track a timeless edge. The track was released under WrldClassic Records.
Their most commercially successful effort to date came in 2023 with Shatta Gyal, recorded by FyaVerse for ChevoBeatz. The track landed on the Billboard Argentina Hot 100 and significantly boosted his international reach. Their collaborative streak continued with Give Me The Herbs, Reggae On The Hill, Rise Up, Harmony 0f Hearts, Ganja Forest, and Margarita featuring Ghanaian artiste Jah Plaka. Later that year, he collaborated with Marlon B—a Jamaican musician based in Frankfurt and a member of the German group Söhne Mannheims—producing and mixing tracks at Big Yaad Studio in Kingston, while living and working in the city’s vibrant music hubs of Cassia Park and Red Hills Road.
The year 2025 brought another major accolade: his single Times Dread, produced by ChevoBeatz, was nominated for Best Reggae Act at the HDP Music Awards and topped Jamaica’s Fiwi Choice Top 10 Chart. The song addresses pressing social issues with emotional clarity and lyrical honesty, reinforcing his role not just as an entertainer but as a conscious voice in Caribbean music.
Now based in Barbados since 2023, FyaVerse is continuing to expand his musical range. He is currently collaborating with Barbadian producer Shawn Spencer of Music Core on a promising new single titled Bacchanal Time. The track, laced with vocal harmonies from soca songstress Rhea Layne, is part of the Good Vibes riddim project and is slated for release just in time for Crop Over 2025, the island’s most iconic summer carnival. With a music video in the works and growing anticipation across the region, Bacchanal Time could be FyaVerse’s biggest seasonal anthem yet—and another major step in his rising international profile.
