Jamaica’s bold ambition to become the Sports Capital of the Caribbean and the Global South continues to gain momentum with the announcement that internationally respected investor, entrepreneur and philanthropist David Mullings will participate as a featured speaker at the inaugural Made4Goal Jamaica Global Sports Summit, taking place June 29-30, 2026 at the University of Technology, Jamaica.

As Founder and Chairman of Blue Mahoe Holdings and a leading advocate for unlocking diaspora capital for Caribbean development, Mullings brings a unique perspective to one of the most important questions facing Jamaican sport today: Who will finance Jamaica’s sports future?

For decades, Jamaica has produced world-class athletes, global sporting icons and unforgettable moments on the international stage. Yet despite its athletic success, the country’s sports ecosystem continues to face challenges related to investment, infrastructure, commercialisation, governance, athlete development and sustainable funding.

The Made4Goal Jamaica Global Sports Summit was created to address these challenges head- on. Far more than a sporting event, the Summit is Jamaica’s first multidisciplinary global sports summit and national business platform, bringing together athletes, leaders from sport, government, tourism, technology, education, health and wellness, media, entertainment, real estate, manufacturing, finance and investment to explore how sport can become a catalyst for economic growth and national development.

“We need new thinking, new investment models and new partnerships. David Mullings represents exactly the type of visionary leadership needed to help Jamaica unlock opportunities that exist beyond the field of play and position itself as a global destination for sports-related business,” said Alrick McKenzie, Founder and Director of the Summit.

Mullings has built a reputation as one of the Caribbean’s most influential voices on impact investing, entrepreneurship and economic development. Through Blue Mahoe Holdings, he has championed innovative approaches to attracting investment capital to the region while creating opportunities that deliver both financial returns and social impact.

His mission to unlock diaspora capital for Caribbean development has become increasingly relevant as Jamaica seeks new mechanisms to finance sporting infrastructure, athlete pathways, sports technology, sports tourism projects and commercial ventures connected to the sports industry.

“I am looking forward to engaging in a timely and necessary conversation about how Jamaica can move from being globally recognised for sporting talent to becoming globally respected for building a real sports economy. Attendees can expect honest dialogue, practical insight and a strong focus on investment, ownership, diaspora capital and the systems needed to turn sporting excellence into long-term national value. This Summit is relevant because Jamaica does not lack talent, what we need now is structure, capital, vision and collaboration to transform that talent into opportunity for generations to come,” said David Mullings.

Importantly, Mullings understands sport from multiple perspectives. In addition to his investment career, he played football for Real Mona FC in Jamaica, giving him first-hand insight into the opportunities and challenges athletes face. His experience spanning finance, entrepreneurship, technology, business development and sport positions him uniquely to contribute to the national conversation around transforming Jamaica’s sports ecosystem.

At the Summit, participants will gain valuable insights into:

  • Financing and investment opportunities within sport
  • Leveraging diaspora capital and international partnerships
  • Building sustainable sports businesses and organisations
  • Commercialisation strategies for sporting disciplines
  • Creating pathways for athletes beyond competition
  • The role of innovation, entrepreneurship and private-sector investment in driving growth

His participation is expected to be of significant interest to sporting associations, investors, entrepreneurs, government agencies, educational institutions, corporate leaders and development organisations seeking practical solutions for strengthening the business of sport in Jamaica.

The Made4Goal Jamaica Global Sports Summit is expected to attract leaders from more than 50 sporting disciplines alongside decision-makers from across multiple sectors. Through keynote presentations, panel discussions, workshops, networking sessions and investor engagement opportunities, attendees will collaborate on actionable solutions to position Jamaica as a global leader in sports-driven economic development.

As Jamaica stands at a defining moment in its sporting history, voices like David Mullings will help shape the roadmap toward a future where sport is not only celebrated for medals and victories, but recognised as a powerful engine for investment, innovation, entrepreneurship, tourism and national prosperity. The future of Jamaican sport is ready to be reimagined.
