The Electoral Commission of Jamaica (EOJ) is reminding the public that the deadline to register for the next voters’ list is Monday, September 30.
The new list is set to be published on November 30, 2024.
Applications submitted after this deadline will be processed for the subsequent list, scheduled for May 31, 2025. Only registered electors can vote in upcoming elections and referenda.
Prospective voters must apply in person at any EOJ constituency office, wearing dark or bright clothing (avoiding white or light colors) for their photograph.
After application, a residence verification team will visit the applicant’s home address. Successful registrants will receive a voter ID card, which can be collected approximately three weeks after the voters’ list is published. Registration is free of charge.
The EOJ reminds individuals already on the voters’ list not to reapply.

Director of Elections Glasspole Brown encourages those who have not collected their voter ID card to do so promptly, especially voters in St Ann North Eastern, ahead of the upcoming by-election on September 30.
“If you have not collected your renewed ID card, please visit your EOJ constituency office as soon as possible. We are especially urging those persons registered in St. Ann North Eastern whose ID cards are still at the constituency office, to collect them ahead of the by-election to make the voting process smoother on September 30,” he said.
Eligibility criteria include being at least 18 years old and a Jamaican or Commonwealth citizen, having resided in Jamaica for at least 12 continuous months prior to registration. Commonwealth citizens must provide relevant documentation when applying.
The voters’ list is updated biannually, with publication dates on May 31 and November 30.
