Miss Trinidad and Tobago Tya Jane Ramey; Miss Puerto Rico Ashley Carino; Miss Haiti Mideline Phelizor and Miss Curacao Gabriela Dos Santos also advanced to the top 16 of the competition.

Calvin gave a commendable performance on Wednesday (January 13) during the preliminary round of the national costume competition.

She represented the national heroine of Jamaica, Nanny, by decking out in an emerald, green costume that consisted of both feathers and crystals.

To further accentuate the look, Calvin wore a white head tie and sported a machete and blew the abeng, an instrument used by the Maroon community to communicate across distances.

Contestants from 86 countries around the world competed in this year’s competition.
