Emma Raducanu has finally opened her 2026 season with a hard-fought victory at the Hobart International.
The British 23-year-old picked up where she left off after rain suspended her match against Camila Osorio on Tuesday.
Trailing 4-2 in the second set when play was paused, Raducanu returned on Wednesday with renewed focus, clawing back the deficit and eventually sealing a 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) win.
The top seed avoided the strain of playing two matches in one day after her second-round opponent, Magdalena Frech, pulled out due to injury.
Raducanu now sets her sights on a quarter-final clash with Australian wildcard Taylah Preston on Thursday, stepping up her game ahead of the Australian Open.
