England pulled off a 12-run victory over Sri Lanka, defending a modest target of 129 to complete a 3-0 T20 series sweep and head into the World Cup full of confidence.
After early wickets left England reeling, Sam Curran starred with a career best 58, lifting the team to 128-9, while Sri Lanka’s bowlers, led by Dushmantha Chameera’s five-wicket haul, kept the match tense until the very end.
Will Jacks claimed 3-14, and Jacob Bethell grabbed the final four wickets, including a triple strike in one over, bowling Sri Lanka out for 116. England’s bowlers struck at crucial moments. Adil Rashid and Jacks dismantled the middle order, and Bethell sealed the win with a dramatic last over wicket, helping England record the lowest total they’ve ever defended in T20 cricket.
The team now turns its attention to the World Cup, opening against Nepal on Sunday, February 8th.
