The Ministry of Health and Wellness announced yesterday that Errol Greene has been appointed permanent secretary, effective September 1, 2024.
Greene, who previously worked as the regional director of the South East Regional Health Authority (SEHRA)—the largest health authority in Jamaica—replaces Dunstan Brown, who has gone on study leave.
In welcoming Greene to his new role, Minister of Health and Wellness Dr Christopher Tufton said he looks “forward to [Greene’s] contribution to the planned programmes and policy priorities and the new dimensions he will add” to the Government’s vision of providing the best health outcomes for all Jamaicans.

In addition to leading SEHRA, which covers the parishes of Kingston, St Andrew, St Catherine, and St Thomas, Greene also served as chief executive officer of the Kingston Public Hospital and the regional director of the Western Regional Health Authority.
Before his employment in the health sector, Greene was the town clerk at the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation and served at the St Thomas Municipal Corporation. A Justice of the Peace, Green is also a past recipient of the Governor General’s Achievement Award.
