The racist song sung by Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has not died down after the entire River Plate stadium joined in chanting the racist song aimed at France’s black players on Sunday (July 21).

Fans chant the racist song at Fernandez, who was a guest at a game at the stadium yesterday in Argentina.

Despite apologizing for singing the song last weekend after he and his team members won Copa America, the song has become somewhat of a national anthem in Argentina.

“I want to apologise sincerely for a video posted on my Instagram channel during the national team celebrations. The song includes highly offensive language and there is absolutely no excuse for those words,” Fernandez said. “I stand against discrimination in all forms and apologise for getting caught up in the euphoria of our Copa America celebrations. That video, that moment, those words do not reflect my beliefs or my character.”

Fernandez team members have given him their full support, although he has apologised for singing the song on that social media post.

However, many of Chelsea’s black players have condemned Enzo Fernandez, and the club is now conducting an investigation into what occurred to that coach with the song.
