Ray McMaster and his daughter, Aliana were crowned champions of the 2025 Rangers Sporting Clay Championship last Sunday, as the echo of clay targets and cheers filled the lush countryside of Bog Walk, St Catherine.
The championship brought together Jamaica’s finest shooters for an epic showdown at the scenic True Juice property in Bog Walk. For the fourth consecutive year, Sterling Asset Management served as the event’s title sponsor, continuing its support of sports and competitive excellence across Jamaica.
This year’s championship was a true crowd-pleaser, drawing 120 registered shooters of all ages and skill levels to the course set among the trees and along the river that winds through the farm. With a challenging layout and spirited competition, the event delivered both excitement and memorable moments.

In a performance filled with determination and heart, Ray McMaster emerged as the Overall Male Champion after securing 95 points, claiming what he described as the most meaningful victory of his shooting career. For him, “winning this title is a dream come true. First of all, I want to thank Sterling for their continued sponsorship and support over the years, this wouldn’t be possible without them”.
“I’ve been chasing this title since the tournament returned three years ago. The first year I lost in a shoot-off, the second year I placed second, and last year I missed the title by a single target. Finally clinching it this year and doing so alongside my daughter who also won her category, it’s incredibly special,” McMaster added.
Aliana dazzled onlookers

Following in her father’s footsteps, a proud Campionite, dazzled onlookers with precision, capturing both the Ladies Champion and Junior Champion titles after securing 90 points. “To be honest, I didn’t come expecting to win,” Aliana said after the competition.
“With CAPE exams starting next week, this was just a welcome break to do something I enjoy. I came out to relax and shoot, and I’m grateful for how it turned out. I’ve always looked forward to the Sterling prizes. The first year I came to Rangers, I won a Sterling Cup in a mini game, and that really made the event memorable for me. I love coming back each year,” she said.

The competition remained fierce across all classes. After a tense shoot-off, Todd Lazarus claimed victory in Class A, while Robin Rickhi took top honours in Class B. Zachary Chong emerged champion in Class C, followed by Max Williams in Class D, and Neil Grant in Class E.
In the Sub-Junior division, Reece McMaster, son of Ray and brother of Aliana, claimed top honours, making it a true family affair.

Meanwhile, Krishna Phillips earned the Hunter Class Champion title after a nail-biting shoot-off, rounding out a day filled with exceptional performances.
Reaffirming Sterling’s commitment

Sterling’s Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Michelle Valentine, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Jamaican sport and youth development saying “we’re proud to be part of something that fosters discipline, focus, and camaraderie,” said Valentine.

She added, “sporting clays may be a niche sport, but events like this prove it has a strong and growing community. Sterling is honoured to stand with the Rangers to make these events possible and continue to help our shooters aim higher, both on and off the course.”
The event also featured a raffle draw for a Bass Pro Shops gift certificate, adding excitement for both participants and spectators.
