Former Cavalier standout forward and FC Dallas marksman Nicholas Simmonds has been called up to the Jamaica men’s national team.
The Jamaica Football Federation made the announcement yesterday Thursday (May 21) of Simmonds joining the Reggae Boyzs for the 2026 Unity Cup Tournament from May 26-31.
Jamaica will face India in the second semifinal on Wednesday, May 27, at 7:30 p.m. at The Valley in Charlton, London. The Valley, home to Charlton Athletic FC (London, England), will host a revamped four-nation tournament including Jamaica, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and India.
Simmonds earned his first senior national team call-up after previously representing Jamaica at the U-17 and U-20 levels. This season, he has made seven appearances and recorded three goal contributions across all competitions for FC Dallas and North Texas SC.
He made his FC Dallas debut against the LA Galaxy on April 18, 2026. He played the full 90 minutes in a loss at Seattle. The 6-foot-4 striker was selected third overall in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of Virginia.
Simmonds led reigning Jamaica Premier League champion Cavaliers with 10 goals as a freshman in 2025. He led the ACC with seven goals in league play and his 10 goals on the season were the most of any freshman from a power conference. Simmonds became the 11th Cavalier to sign a Generation adidas /Project-40 contract at the end of the season and was selected third overall by FC Dallas in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft. He has been named to the FC Dallas squad eight times this season while making three appearances and one start.
