A flash flood watch is currently in effect for southern parishes in Jamaica, including St Thomas, Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester, and Westmoreland.

The watch will remain active until 5 PM on Thursday, October 17.

The Meteorological Service of Jamaica has indicated that a tropical wave near the western Caribbean is interacting with an area of low pressure, leading to unstable weather conditions.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect most parishes from this afternoon through Friday morning.

Additionally, fishers and marine interests are advised to exercise extreme caution due to deteriorating sea conditions associated with these storms and strong winds.
