Telecommunications provider Flow is deepening its investment in Jamaica’s future marketing leaders by sponsoring 50 tertiary-level students to attend BrandCamp: The Marketers Meet-Up, a premier industry event taking place at The University of the West Indies on March 25.

The announcement was made by Latoy Lawrence, Head of Marketing, Flow Jamaica, during a guest lecture at the University of Technology (Utech) on March 19.

Students from Excelsior Community College, Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, and UTech will benefit from this sponsorship, gaining rare access to leading industry practitioners and to real-world campaigns shaping Jamaica’s business and creative landscape.

During her lecture, Lawrence shared strategic insights from Flow’s acclaimed “Ya’ad and Road” campaign. She spoke about the power of cultural relevance in defining and differentiating a product, the importance of understanding that success is iterative and requires persistence, and the pivotal role that marketing plays in driving organisational performance.

She also encouraged students to embrace adaptability and continuous learning, particularly as marketers navigate rapidly evolving tools, platforms, and consumer expectations.

“Marketing has the power to define culture. When we get it right, we are not just promoting products, we are shaping how people live, connect, and experience the world around them,” she said.

Flow’s marketing excellence recently earned international recognition, as its ‘Riddim’ brand campaign received five ADDY Awards from the American Advertising Federation, while the company’s network, which underpins the brand experience, was recognised by Ookla for delivering Jamaica’s Fastest Mobile Network.

Lawrence emphasised that Flow’s marketing department works hand in hand with every area of the business to tell an authentic story about how the company’s products enhance the lives of customers.

She added that BrandCamp will give students invaluable exposure to the creative and strategic thinking behind Jamaica’s most impactful campaigns, helping emerging marketers strengthen their understanding of brand storytelling and better prepare for an increasingly competitive industry.

“Opportunities like BrandCamp are essential in bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice.  We are proud to help create pathways for young marketers to grow, innovate, and ultimately contribute to Jamaica’s creative and economic development,” she said.
