Prize money at the French Open is getting a healthy 9.5 percent increase this year, with more cash flowing to players in the early stages and qualifying rounds.

Singles champions will now earn 2.8 million euros, while first round players in the main draw will take home 87,000 euros, both seeing noticeable bumps. The biggest lift comes in qualifying, where payouts have jumped by nearly 13 percent.

The move comes as players continue to push for better earnings and added support beyond prize money. While the increase from the French Tennis Federation is higher than last year, it still trails behind the bigger jumps recently seen at the US Open and the Australian Open.

For many players grinding through the early rounds, the extra money could make a real difference.
