Wigton Windfarm has appointed a new chief executive officer as the renewable energy company undergoes major organisational changes.

Former Jamaica Public Service (JPS) senior executive Gary Barrow has been selected to fill the CEO position. In addition, Michelle Chin Lenn has been appointed to fill the role of deputy chief executive officer, having served as interim managing director for the past few weeks.

The position of head of energy, which was held by Chin Lenn, will be discarded. These changes was occasioned by the retirement of Earl Barrett, who retired as managing director on March 31 this year.

The board of directors of Wigton is of the view that the aforementioned changes, specifically the appointment of Barrow following a successful recruitment process, will it to fully realise its vision of being a profitable, regional conglomerate with successful clean energy and other investments.

Barrow takes the lead of Wigton at an exciting time, leading the charge for new investments to deliver a more diversified energy portfolio and growth agenda. The new CEO has demonstrated exceptional leadership for over 30 years in highly relevant c-suite roles in telecommunications and electricity in the region.

In addition to his industry know-how and business experience, Burrow’s multi-disciplinary background in engineering, finance, technology, innovation, business transformation, process re-engineering, governance and people management will allow him to hit the ground running at Wigton.

In his last appointment as JPS’ chief operating officer, Burrow led enterprise-wide strategic planning and executed some of the game-changing projects in their digital transformation and other business innovations. His past successes included smart meters and grid modernisation projects.

Barrow holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, a Master of Business Administration and has completed global leadership development programmes with INSEAD in France, United Kingdom, China, Spain and USA.
