Amid controversy over Google utilising artificial intelligence (AI), the popular search engine is integrating how you can cheer on your favourite Olympic medallist with digital icons.

The delightful feature works by simply googling an athlete currently competing in the Paris 2024 Olympics and if the athlete wins a medal it will appear as a widget on screen.

After clicking on the widget, the details of their event and medal float to the top of your screen and you can ‘throw’ flowers at the athlete

Google is no stranger to fun tips and silly games via their amusing Google Doodle designs.

Creators of Google Doodle, Larry Page and Sergey Brin embarked on their journey in 1998 to honour the Burning Man festival. It’s one of the most memorable ways to commemorate major events, holidays and people from around the world, temporarily altering the recognisable logo.

Artists, designers, marketers and engineers bring Doodles to life in an original manner and are assisted by subject matter experts and copious background research.

On the opening day of the Paris Olympics 2024, Google announced that it would change its logo daily to honour Olympic participants in different events.

Upon visiting the search engine today, you can see a bird performing a series of flips on a beam and receiving a score of 10 from a cat.

Google’s partnership with the Olympic games finally yielded some decent results after the criticism of the Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone ad, suggesting that its Gemini AI bot should be used instead of a young girl’s thoughts to write a letter to her idol.

The company came under fire after the failure to integrate generative AI summaries to reduce the length of Google searches.

Google introduced the feature in May and the venture resulted in misinformation and misleading responses. The company asserted that the AI feature has increased search usage and satisfaction.
