A total of $150 million will be allocated in fiscal year 2026/27 to strengthen cybersecurity protection across public institutions and to expand the pool of specialised cybersecurity professionals.

The project, entitled ‘Strengthening Cybersecurity in Jamaica’, is jointly funded by the Government of Jamaica and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

It commenced in September 2025 and is scheduled to conclude in March 2031.

Details of the project are outlined in the 2026/27 Estimates of Expenditure, tabled recently in the House of Representatives by Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Fayval Williams.

Targets for the upcoming fiscal year include establishing a Project Implementation Unit; procuring and undertaking cybersecurity awareness campaigns, and coordinating training programmes.

The project is being implemented by the Office of the Prime Minister.
