On Friday, February 13, the GraceKennedy (GK) family celebrated the Company’s 104th anniversary with the renaming of its headquarters at 42–56 Harbour Street as The Don Wehby Building.
The name-change is in honour of the late Group CEO Don Wehby.
GK team members gathered in the lobby before moving onto Harbour Street in downtown Kingston to witness the unveiling of the new signage. The event was also live-streamed to hundreds of GK team members around the world.
The decision was first announced during the 31st Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica’s (PSOJ) Hall of Fame induction in December 2025, where Wehby was honoured for his transformative impact on the Jamaican business landscape.
The building renaming ceremony took place on the eve of the company’s 104th anniversary, a date that coincides with Valentine’s Day and holds special meaning in GraceKennedy’s history.

In attendance were Don Wehby’s wife, Hilary Wehby; his daughter, Stephanie Wehby; and his sister, Dorothea Ziadie, who joined members of the GK Board, Executive Committee and staff for the ceremony, and later participated in cutting the Company’s 104th anniversary cake.
Speaking at the event, Group CEO Frank James noted, “The timing of this ceremony, as we celebrate GK’s 104th birthday tomorrow, is very deliberate, not just because it is Valentine’s Day, a day of love, and we loved Don, but because it is also a day of legacy. It is the day we remember our founding fathers and the values of honesty, integrity, trust, commitment, humility and respect that still continue to guide us today.”
He also reflected on Wehby’s passion for the Harbour Street headquarters project, which was built during his tenure as Group CEO and opened in 2019 as a J$3.25 billion investment in downtown Kingston. He viewed it as an opportunity to change lives and was intentional about this. “Don insisted that Jamaicans would help to build these walls and walk away with more than a pay cheque. He made sure workers gained certification and skills they could carry for years to come. That was Don’s way of leading: passionate, determined, get it done now, but always lifting others as he moved ahead. He believed success meant creating room for everyone to rise.”

Chairman of the Board, Gordon Shirley, described the decision to rename the building as deliberate and meaningful. “In choosing to rename the GK headquarters The Don Wehby Building, we are recognising his legacy of leadership—thoughtful, forward-looking and grounded in honesty, integrity and trust. Today’s renaming is an enduring acknowledgement of Don’s contribution to GraceKennedy, downtown Kingston and Jamaica.”
As GraceKennedy marks 104 years of enriching lives through trusted food and financial services, The Don Wehby Building stands as a symbol of continuity, honouring a leader who believed deeply in the Company’s purpose, its people and its Harbour Street roots, as it pursues its vision of becoming the number one Caribbean brand in the world.
