Howard Johnson Jr., past president of the Realtors Association of Jamaica, has been conferred ‘lifetime membership’ status during the RAJ’s annual general meeting (AGM) held in late June.
The ‘lifetime membership’ conferred by the RAJ is a significant recognition, honouring a member’s long-term commitment, contribution, and service to the organisation and the real estate industry. This accolade is the highest recognition of service the association can bestow on a member, celebrating their professionalism, expertise, and dedicated willingness to serve their colleagues and the industry.
Howard Johnson Jr., director of the Howard Johnson Realty Group, becomes only the sixth person in the association’s history to receive this honour, underscoring his exceptional contributions.
RAJ executive director Karen Rowe remarked, “Howard has made significant contributions to the Association, including serving as President for two terms. His work on the multiple listing service (MLS) has transformed the local real estate industry. We are extremely proud of him and what he has accomplished.”
Johnson has been a real estate professional for approximately 27 years and a member of the RAJ for approximately half that time. He served as president of the RAJ from 2010 to 2013 and again in 2018.
Among his many contributions, implementing the MLS in Jamaica stands out as a strategic game-changer for the local real estate industry and the association, revolutionising how business is conducted. He also serves as chairman of the RAJ’s professional standards committee, and he was awarded by the US-based National Association of Realtors (NAR) in 2014 as ‘International Realtor of the Year’ out of members from 100 countries.
He was the first Jamaican to have sat on the board and committees of the NAR, lending his expertise and vision to the industry globally.
Howard Johnson Jr. expressed his gratitude for the award and shared his vision for the future. He stated, “I am deeply honoured to receive the lifetime membership status from the RAJ. I look forward to continuing to work to elevate the standards and success of real estate professionals in Jamaica.”
