

In a move which will bring about greater impact from development financing, the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is strengthening their collaboration.
To this end, World Bank president, Ajay Banga, and his IDB counterpart, Ilan Goldfajn, will hold a discussion tomorrow (August 31) on strategic and collaborative approaches in a world faced with complex challenges.
The focus among the topics to be covered include sustainable development in the Amazon and climate resilience in the Caribbean, to transforming education systems through digitalisation.
The leaders of the international development financing institutions will also discuss how the two institutions envision driving positive change in Latin America and the Caribbean, and propelling the region toward a more resilient and prosperous future.


The conversation will be followed by the signing of a historic agreement between the two multilateral organisations to raise the effectiveness of development in Latin America and the Caribbean as well as the rest of the world at the IDB’s Enrique V. Iglesias Auditorium in Washington DC, starting at 10 :00 am Eastern Time.
The event will be held in English with simultaneous interpretation in Spanish and Portuguese.
