Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek is turning to Francisco Roig, the former coach of Rafael Nadal and Emma Raducanu, as she looks to regain her best form.
The 24 year old Polish star has struggled through 2026, bowing out in the quarter finals at both the Australian Open and Indian Wells, and hopes Roig can help her find consistency ahead of next month’s French Open.
Swiatek, who has claimed four of her six Grand Slam titles on clay, parted ways with Wim Fissette after her first-round loss at the Miami Open. Fissette had guided her to her historic Wimbledon triumph in 2025 but their collaboration also included tough setbacks, including a heavy defeat to Aryna Sabalenka at last year’s French Open.
Roig, 58, is best known for his 17 year partnership with 22 time Grand Slam winner Nadal, but he has also coached Raducanu, Feliciano Lopez, and Matteo Berrettini. Known for his practical and hands on coaching style, Roig identifies technical issues by careful observation rather than relying heavily on video analysis.
Swiatek has begun training with Roig at Nadal’s academy in Manacor, Spain, focusing on the clay court season as she aims to return to top form and make a strong bid for her next Grand Slam title.
