Host nation India will go into the semi-final round of the ICC Cricket World Cup, as the only team to be unbeaten the entire round-robin, after a decisive win against the Netherlands on Sunday (November 12).
The Netherlands were always going to have a tough time against the Indian dominance, but it was made acutely clear they would make no real impact on the host’s impressive play.
India won the toss and decided to go into the crease first.
The Netherlands failed to make any inroads in the Indian innings and there were 100 runs on the board before one wicket fell.
The Indians were already at 200 runs when talisman Virat Kohli was sent back to the pavilion for 51 of 56 balls.
The morale-breaking partnership came for the fourth wicket with Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul each making a century, before Rahul was eventually out for 102 runs.
At the end of 50 overs, the Indians had amassed an imposing total of 410 runs.
The Netherlands already had a monumental run chase on their hands, but the Indian bowling attack, which has been in devastating form all tournament, would make the task even more insurmountable.
With three batsmen already back in the locker room with just 72 runs scored, the Netherlands would fail to establish any momentum that would be needed for them to reach such a large total.
No Netherlands partnership produced more than 40 runs at a time before it was broken by the Indians, and the Dutch innings was merely a flickering ember in the closing stages.
In the end, they would only score 250 runs and lose by 160 runs.

Teja Nidamanuru was the only real contributor to the chase with 54 runs from 39 balls, which included six 6’s.
Man of the Match went to Shreyas Iyer, who made 128 not out.
It was balanced bowling attack, with four Indian bowlers took two wickets each, with captain Shubman Gill and Kohli both also claiming a wicket.
The Indians now move on to the semi-final round as the only unbeaten team and will face last tournament’s finalists New Zealand, who finished fourth.
