President of the Republic of India Ram Nath Kovind is to arrive in Jamaica on May 15 for a historic four-day State visit.
The visit comes as Jamaica celebrates 60 years of political independence and also marks 60 years of diplomatic relations between Jamaica and India.
Kovind is the first president of India to visit Jamaica.
During the visit, the Indian president will receive a ceremonial welcome at the Norman Manley International airport and will be met by State and Government officials.
TO MEET WITH PRIME MINISTER ANDREW HOLNESS
He will pay a courtesy call on Governor General Sir Patrick Allen.
Kovind will also meet with Prime Minister Andrew Holness and engage in other activities including laying a wreath at the shrine of Jamaica’s first National Hero Marcus Garvey and hold an engagement with the Indian community in Jamaica.
Kovind will leave Jamaica on May 18.
It is the third high profile visit to the island over the past two months, following the visit of British royal couple Prince William and his wife, Kate, and Rwanda President Paul Kagame.
