IronRock Insurance Company signalled its readiness to grow its foothold in the general insurance market at the official opening of its new location, 33 ½ Hope Road, last Thursday, June 19.
The company welcomed brokers, directors, service providers, clients, insurers and other well-wishers to its new office space, with Joseph Evering, IronRock’s general manager of insurance operations, underscoring the importance of the move to the company’s overall productivity.
“This new space is designed to foster collaboration, and to encourage us [to be] innovative, people-focused and future-ready,” he shared during the evening’s festivities.

Evering’s comments would serve as a preamble to Chief Executive Officer Christian Watt’s welcome, which paid homage to IronRock’s founders Evan Thwaites, William “Billy” McConnell, and Wayne Hardie. While reminiscing on the earlier days of IronRock at its previous location on Braemar Avenue, Watt also highlighted the need for this new office space as a response to the changing dynamics of the company.
He pointed out that as the team grew over the years, the company’s ambitions and client base expanded in like manner. As such, the need for more space to meet increasing demand became evident.
“We needed a new space that reflected where we are now. A space that says: ‘We’re not just in the market—we’ve earned our place in it,” Watt stated.

Evering, general manager of Insurance Operations at IronRock; and Alicia Morgan, claims
manager at IronRock, share a light moment during the opening of the new IronRock office.
He added: “This new office is more than just upgraded square footage, it’s a reflection of our confidence in the future. It mirrors our culture. It’s open, it’s connected, it’s built for collaboration, from the layout and the design to the signage we have inside. We wanted something that really inspires. We wanted something that feels like IronRock [something that is] welcoming, warm and a little bit bold.”
He also expressed gratitude to IronRock’s employees and its various stakeholders for their role in the company’s growth.
Executive Director of the Insurance Association of Jamaica (IAJ) Everton McFarlane, who was the guest speaker for the opening, commended IronRock on the strides it has made in the industry. He further commented that the company’s move is not only physical, but also a symbol of its commitment to growth and efficiently serving its client base.

On another note, McFarlane appealed to insurance providers that, in light of the increase in major catastrophic events, they need to be more responsive to their clients’ needs with great efficiency. He therefore called for a general insurance service that “leverages the benefit of up-to-date technology in order to automate and streamline many of the processes that are typically associated with insurance. The goal is to simplify the insuring process and make doing business as simple and seamless as possible.”
The executive director of the IAJ also commended IronRock for being trailblazers in this regard and also suggested that IronRock already possesses the “secret sauce”.
