People’s National Party (PNP) Candidate for South East St Elizabeth Norman Scott unequivocally denies the malicious and fabricated allegation being spread by the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) that he assaulted one of their workers at the BB Coke polling location.
According to a release from the PNP, Scott explained that a crowd of JLP supporters converged on him while at the polling location. He maintains that the only physical contact that could have been made with anyone in the crowd was when he was trying to enter the polling station and was being prevented from doing so.
He expressed regret that a woman was allegedly injured during the melee and encouraged her to seek the necessary medical consultation. “Let it be clear, I stand for peace, respect, and the democratic process. I have built my campaign on service, solutions, and integrity, not intimidation or violence. The JLP’s attempt to drag my name into this is a sign of panic, not strength.
“The truth is that South East St Elizabeth is ready for real leadership and positive change. The people have embraced the PNP’s message of progress, and the JLP, recognising this momentum, has resorted to character assassination and lies,” said Scott.
Scott is calling on the JLP to desist from these dirty tactics and instead, focus on what truly matters—”better opportunities for our youth, support for our farmers, improved healthcare, and development that lifts every community in South East St Elizabeth”.
He added: “The PNP and I remain committed to a campaign of peace, unity, and progress. No amount of lies will derail our mission to deliver a brighter future for the people we serve.
