Election Day got underway smoothly in constituencies across St Catherine with polling stations opening on time and minimal delays reported in South St Catherine, East Central St Catherine, and South Eastern St Catherine.

In South St Catherine, voters are choosing among sitting PNP MP Fitz Jackson, representing the People’s National Party; Delroy Dobney, standing for the Jamaica Labour Party; and Courtney Morrison, the candidate for the Jamaica Progressive Party.

Police officers and Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) staff at local polling centres confirmed that the voting process has been “running smoothly with no reported incidents”.

Moving to East Central St. Catherine, the contest features PNP’s Raymond Pryce squaring off against JLP’s Alando Terrelonge.

At stations across the constituency, early voter turnout reflected enthusiasm on both sides. Supporters of both parties exchanged greetings and made confident predictions about their candidates’ chances, with no disruptions reported.

In South Eastern St. Catherine, the race pits incumbent JLP MP Robert Miller against PNP challenger Dr. Alfred Dawes.

Speaking to Our Today, Dr Dawes affirmed that “all is running smoothly” at several polling places. Meanwhile, social media posts and reports highlighted enthusiastic voter engagement, with some early voters even posting selfies to encourage others to cast their ballots.

Across Portmore, members of both the PNP and JLP expressed confidence in their respective campaigns. PNP supporters emphasised their groundwork and grassroots mobilisation, while JLP backers cited their party’s leadership and candidate experience. The mood outside polling centres remained upbeat, with families queuing together, campaign volunteers offering water and shade, and first-time voters expressing pride in participating.
