It is that time of year again when Our Today highlights popular mothers of social media who have taken us on their journey of motherhood.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner this Sunday, May 12, a time to celebrate and honour our mothers for their invaluable contribution to the family and society.

Today, Our Today is highlighting a new mom, Kerry-Ann Collins, more popularly known as ‘Chiney K’.

Chiney K is a social media influencer, radio personality and owner of her hair care line, Joli Faire Hair, who is widely known for her entertaining vlogs and skits.

In 2021, Collins was declared the winner of Social House, a reality television show where influencers and creators from YouTube, Instagram and TikTok live together and battle in weekly challenges.

Collins and her partner Danar ‘Dan Dan’ Royal welcomed their daughter, baby Royal, into the world in March last year.

From the announcement of her pregnancy in November 2023 to the birth of her daughter who is now a year old, Chiney K has brought her social media family on her journey of motherhood.

If you scroll through Chiney K’s social media feed, you will see countless photos and videos depicting her journey of motherhood. From her daughter’s first beach day to trips to the supermarket.

As a new mom, Collins has shared that she has found purpose and has taken a major shift in her thought process being more mindful of matters surrounding health and wellness.

“Wow! I’m a whole mom || The beginning of my Chapter 3 Time & presence & health are the most important things to me now. Baby Royal is perfect in every way. Loved immensely from the beginning. I’ve never felt love & felt so needed in my life. I wish I could live 10 lifetimes just to be present for her every moment. My biggest blessing I can’t even put into words how I feel,” Collins said in a captioned post as she celebrated her first Mother’s Day last year.

“I’ve found a new purpose and I am ready for the ride. My first Mother’s Day. My journey to motherhood was one I enjoyed wholeheartedly you all made baby girl and I feel so so loved I appreciate all the congratulations and well wishes from my supporters. All the brands that gave me a token to say congratulations I sincerely appreciate it too. Same time next year again,” she added.

Perhaps another secret to motherhood Collins has not explicitly shared is the need to protect our children. Collins and Royal have both decided to not include the face of their daughter in any of their social media post.

Whether this is for personal reasons, mothers can definitely relate to the need to keep our children safe from the social media space and outside forces. After all, the ultimate role of a mother is to nurture and protect their children.

Happy Mother’s Day Chiney K!
