Jamaica’s parliament will undergo the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) benchmark self-assessment exercise on Monday (January 13).
This will be done at the inaugural benchmark Self-Assessment Exercise, set for Gordon House, 81 Duke Street Kingston, starting at 11:00am. This exercise meeting will be supervised by the CPA.
The CPA recommended Benchmarks for Democratic Legislatures, provide internationally recognized standards for good governance in parliamentary practices.
As part of the Good Governance Project, delivered in partnership with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the CPA will meet with Parliamentarians, Government Officials, and other stakeholders during this Self-Assessment Exercise.
This engagement is designed to gather valuable feedback and evaluate Jamaica’s parliamentary practices against these benchmarks. The initiative aligns with Vision 2030 National Development Plan, supporting legislative reforms to foster a stronger and more effective Parliament.
