JCF expands probe after inspector’s arrest, uncovers cocaine during audit of C-TOC storage

As investigations continue into the arrest and charge of Police Inspector Martin Walker following the seizure of 5.8 kilograms of cocaine on January 8, a secondary high-level investigation is currently underway following the discovery of two illegal parcels of cocaine within the storage facilities of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch (C-TOC) this week.
The discovery was made after Deputy Commissioner of Police Richard Stewart, head of the Crime and Security Portfolio, ordered a comprehensive audit of the branch’s storage facilities.
The illicit drug was found in breach of established protocols. Detectives assigned to the Firearm and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) were immediately contacted to commence an investigation following the discovery.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Dr Kevin Blake has ordered the immediate removal of FNID from the oversight of C-TOC.
The JCF High Command has also given its full support to FNID as they carry out the investigations.
The audit and the investigation are ongoing.
