The JDF Co-operative Credit Union (JDFCCU) has broken ground for a new building at Up Park Camp in Kingston, signalling a transformative chapter in its 63-year history.
The event was marked by a sod-turning ceremony attended by JDFCCU members, leaders, and special guests, with a keynote address from President Colonel Maxwell Gordon.

Describing the project as a demonstration of “deliberate progress, clear vision, and the collective strength of our membership”, Colonel Gordon noted that the development strengthens the credit union’s partnership with the Jamaica Defence Force and enhances its commitment to the financial well-being of its members.
“We are not simply constructing a building; we are strengthening the foundation of our institution,” he said, adding that the project is an investment in infrastructure and long-term resilience.

The JDFCCU president shared that the new facility is a testament to members’ confidence and participation, noting that every share purchased, account maintained, and loan repaid contributed directly to the realisation of the project.
As part of the JDFCCU’s long-term strategic plan, the building will feature modern technology, upgraded service areas, and enhanced security that will improve operational efficiency while allowing for future expansion.

The ceremony concluded with the symbolic turning of the soil, marking the official start of construction and a renewed commitment to service, growth, and partnership with its members.
