JETS Limited, parent company of retail payment system Multilink, is paying forward substantially as it donated over J$10.8 million to the United Way of Jamaica (UWJ) through its successful 2024 corporate social responsibility (CSR) Fund.

JETS chief executive Edmundo Jenez shared during the ceremonial cheque handover, that “the company was founded with the mission of serving Jamaicans and making Jamaica a better place”.

Through partnership with the United Way of Jamaica, these funds will go towards initiatives across the island to improve the lives of the most vulnerable.

The donation has contributed to important projects in 2024 and will continue to impact organisations and communities in 2025.

UWJ’s Farmer’s Rehabilitation Fund was supported by JETS, repairing schools in St. Elizabeth that were devastated by Hurricane Beryl and three additional schools in Trelawny, Hanover and Westmoreland will receive urgent repairs to enable quality education for those children.

The funds have also supported UWJ’s Girls Economic Empowerment Project, the annual Bringing Cheer to Children in State Care holiday event, and the National Children’s Home rebuilding fund.

Several organizations have received designated funding through the partnership between JETS and UWJ that aligns with their shared mission to reach the most vulnerable populations in Jamaica.  These organizations are Mustard Seed Communities, Jamaica Society for the Blind, Maxfield Park Children’s Home, Jamaica AIDS Support for Life and Jamaica Cancer Society.

Mustard Seed Communities Jamaica is responsible for providing care for over 500 residents, supporting the most vulnerable in society including children with mental and physical challenges, pregnant teens and children living with HIV.

Darcy Tulloch-Williams, shared “This particular donation is very intentional in the sense that we will be using it to repair the ceiling of a major dorm in our Spanish Town location that was ravaged by termites.  It is a large area that is responsible for about 76 residents.  We’re so indebted to JETS and the United Way of Jamaica for placing their trust in us and continuing to support our efforts.”

The sentiments of gratitude are felt amongst all of the beneficiaries of this partnership.

“We cater to the most vulnerable and serve over 1000 people through our clinics, including children.  It is not often that a Jamaican company pours into our organization and for that, we are truly grateful,” said Kandasi Levermore, executive director of Jamaica AIDS Support for Life (JASL).

UWJ’s expertise in grant funding and project management has facilitated the mobilisation of funding from Corporate Jamaica and individual donors for both programming and financial support subject matter expert organizations such as JASL, Jamaica Cancer Society and Jamaica Society for the Blind.

Taneshia Stoney Dryden, CEO of United Way of Jamaica, expressed her excitement at these expanding partnerships.

“Our goal at UWJ is to transform lives across Jamaica, and we are so proud to be leading the way in channeling JETS CSR funds to projects, programmes and organizations that will do just that,” she said.
