The Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club (JMMC) has announced the official launch of its Hurricane Melissa relief fundraising initiative, #RallyForRecovery, beginning with the branding of a Citroën C3 Rally2 rally car entered in the 2026 Monte Carlo Rally by Italian-American competitor Filippo Marchino.

The programme was inspired by the devastating impact of Category 5 Hurricane Melissa on Jamaica. Deeply moved by the scale of the destruction, Marchino—a personal friend of JMMC Chairman Stephen Gunter—offered to use his international rally platform to help raise funds and global awareness for Jamaica’s recovery.

The 2026 Monte Carlo Rally, officially the 94e Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo, will run from January 22 to 25, 2026, marking the ninety-fourth staging of the iconic event and the opening round of the 2026 FIA World Rally Championship, WRC2, and WRC3 championships. Based in Gap, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, the rally will feature 17 special stages over a competitive distance of 339.15 kilometres.

Marchino will contest the event in a Citroën C3 Rally2, a competition car built by Citroën Racing to R5 regulations and derived from the Citroën C3 road model. The car will carry special #RallyForRecovery branding, with a livery inspired by the unique colours of Jamaica’s national flag, in support of the country’s relief effort.

When not competing in international rally events, Marchino serves as Managing Partner at The X-Law Group, a catastrophic personal injury law firm in Los Angeles specializing in highly complex, technical cases often requiring deep engineering expertise. He also holds an advanced degree in aerospace engineering and serves on the board of a prominent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the One Drop foundation.

“Having witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of natural disasters through my professional work representing catastrophic injury victims, I understand the long road to recovery that lies ahead for Jamaica,” said Marchino. “The engineering precision we apply in rally competition and the technical expertise we bring to complex legal cases have taught me that recovery from disaster requires both immediate action and sustained commitment. By carrying the #RallyForRecovery message through every stage of the Monte Carlo Rally, we’re not just racing—we’re rallying the global motorsport community to stand with Jamaica. Every kilometre we complete represents our shared determination to help rebuild stronger and more resilient communities.”

Crucially, all funds raised through the initiative will be directed exclusively to the Government of Jamaica’s official hurricane relief platform, https://supportjamaica.gov.jm, ensuring full transparency, accountability, and direct impact.

In addition to donations generated during the Monte Carlo Rally, Mr. Marchino has commissioned two custom-branded racing suits, one of which will be auctioned, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going directly to the Government of Jamaica’s official relief fund. The second suit will be donated to the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Dr. The Most Honourable Andrew Holness, as a symbol of how motorsport can bring people together in a shared national cause.

JMMC Chairman Stephen Gunter welcomed the initiative, noting that the programme reflects the unifying power of motorsport beyond competition.

“#RallyForRecovery demonstrates how motorsport can serve a greater purpose. We are deeply grateful to Filippo Marchino for his generosity and for standing with Jamaica at a time when our nation needs international solidarity and practical support,” Gunter said.

The JMMC further confirmed that #RallyForRecovery will continue throughout the 2026 racing season, leveraging both local and international motorsport events to maintain momentum for fundraising and global awareness of Jamaica’s recovery efforts. The initiative will be conducted across multiple racing genres and is not limited to rally competition alone. Drag Racing, Drifting, Circuit Racing, Karting, and other motorsport disciplines will all form part of the ongoing effort.

The hashtag #RallyForRecovery is intentionally a play on words, linking motorsport through one genre, rally, to a broader call to action to “rally” support, awareness, and fundraising for Jamaica’s recovery.

The Club is calling on rally fans, motorsport supporters, and members of the global community to follow the 2026 Monte Carlo Rally, support Marchino’s campaign, and contribute directly through https://supportjamaica.gov.jm.

Together, through sport, solidarity, and shared purpose, the JMMC believes Jamaica’s road to recovery can be strengthened — one rally stage and racing event at a time.
